I know, I know. Space is tight – and no one wants to hear
they need to finagle more of it. You might say “If I give you an inch – you’ll
take a mile!” Say no more – I won’t take more than a few inches – I promise.
As a general rule of thumb, books should never be stored
directly against walls but should be at least three inches away from them [NEDCC]
Collection materials should also be kept in storage
furniture at least four inches off the ground.[NEDCC]
